actually quite good at any time of the year.
The day started with pancakes and presents then it was off to spend a day with the family, bike riding and eating chocolate cake.
And what better way to finish of the day than with another cake- this time raspberry chocolate chip icecream cake which is fast becoming a family birthday tradition.
Easy to make and even easier to eat.
Rose loved the birthday quilt which was completed late yesterday afternoon.
Now that I have finished sweeping up all of the cotton threads from this one, it's time to get started on Charlotte's.
I have exactly 10 days so it could be a close call...snip, snip, snip.
Grace has discovered her hands.
Now she wakes singing and gurgling in the morning and always has a big smile for her sisters.
And when Grace smiles, she smiles with her whole face- even her slightly sticky out ears wiggle with happiness.
She has an infectious chuckle that sometimes turns into a belly laugh. She truly is a content, relaxed little soul.
16 weeks old and my baby has grown out of her little hats that I knitted for her.
Not such a tiny applehead anymore...and time to knit another hat.
(Knitted hat in Rosegarden popcorn wool using this pattern.)
Rose and I (with Gracie pie in her pram asleep) spent a morning together at the MCA. She was meant to be at school but I felt it was about time for some quality one on one time. (Lucky for me, Rose's teacher is of the same firm belief that family time is sometimes more important than sitting in the classroom, so I didn't feel too guilty).
We came across this sweet looking white bunny in the MCA shop which I thought would look perfect in Grace's room....
However, sometime between leaving the store and posing for the camera, White Bunny seems to have had undergone a personality change.
He has taken to using standover tactics in his bid to reign supreme over the rest of his dresser top companions....
Who you callin' big ears, bear?
By the way,it's Mister White Bunny.
And don't you forget it.
Sweet?
Maybe not......
It's birthday month in our house and I decided that I wanted to make the girls a quilt each for their birthdays. I have seen raggy, shaggy quilt on a few favourite blogs along with comments on how quick and easy they are to make. And so I began.
Easy - yes, I have to agree with that.
Quick? Well, the sewing part is relatively fast but the seam allowance snipping? I can only do a few seams before my hands start cramping up so it's been a few seams here and a few seams there. I have almost finished so it will be into the wash and drying hopefully before the weekend. Because that's when it's Rose's birthday. And then I have to get started on Charlotte's quilt.
Lucky for me that Grace has a while to go before she starts asking me where her quilt is....
( Linen from Quilter's barn)
knitted washcloth with crochet picot edging, in a favourite organic cotton found here....
I have knitted many variations of these- somehow I've never managed to keep one for myself.
This one is ready to be packed and posted ...maybe the next one might make it's way into my linen closet.
Thank you for all of the suggestions about how I might deal with Grace's cradle cap. I'll give them a try (although not all at once). The coconut oil sounds good - she'll smell just like summer...
At the moment I'm trying her Bottom Balm on her head - it's a thick mix of sweet almond oil, beeswax, lavender and other good smelling things. Seems to work wonders on her bottom so fingers crossed it will work it's magic on her head!
